Quality Control & Pre-Shipment Inspection in China.

From first-article approval, through in-process checks, to pre-shipment inspection, we coordinate the complete inspection plan for your castings, forgings and CNC parts — dimensional, material, visual and functional — and hand you documented results before the goods ship.

TL;DR

Quality Control in Brief.

  • We coordinate three inspection stages: first-article approval, in-process inspection and pre-shipment inspection.
  • Checks cover dimensions, material, appearance and function — matched to your drawing and specification.
  • You receive documented inspection reports before goods are released.
  • Sampling can follow ISO 2859-1, or use 100% inspection for critical features.
Three Stages

The Three Inspection Stages.

Reliable quality is not a single check at the end. It is a sequence of checks positioned where errors actually appear — tooling, first parts, running production and final packing. We coordinate all three stages against your specification and report the results in writing, whether you source castings, forgings or CNC parts.

First-Article Approval (FAI / FAT)

The first conforming part is measured against every requirement on the drawing — all dimensions, tolerances, material, finish and any functional requirement. First-article approval, also described as factory acceptance, confirms the tooling, mould or CNC program is correct before volume production starts, when corrections are still inexpensive.

In-Process Inspection

During production we coordinate in-process checks at agreed points — after casting or forging, after heat treatment, after critical machining operations. In-process inspection catches drift, tool wear and setup errors early, so an entire batch is not made before a problem is discovered.

Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI)

Once production is complete and before the goods leave China, pre-shipment inspection verifies the finished batch: quantity, dimensions, material, surface finish, marking and packing. It is the last and most practical checkpoint before your payment and shipment.

What We Check

Dimensions, Material, Appearance and Function.

Each part is inspected against the items your drawing and specification actually call out. Before any inspection, we recommend verifying the supplier itself with our China supplier audit and verification service.

Dimensional Inspection

We measure critical and specified features against drawing tolerances using calibrated instruments — vernier, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge and, for complex geometry, coordinate measuring machines — and record the actual values, not just a pass or fail.

Material Verification

We check material certificates, heat numbers and batch records against your specification and, where required, coordinate positive material identification (PMI) or chemical composition analysis at qualified third-party laboratories.

Visual Inspection

We examine surface condition — porosity, cracks, cold shuts, flash, machining marks, corrosion and coating defects — under appropriate lighting and, where required, with dye penetrant or other non-destructive methods for surface-breaking defects.

Functional Testing

Where your part has a function, we coordinate the relevant test — pressure or leak testing, fit and assembly checks, thread gauging, hardness or other mechanical tests — to confirm the part works, not just measures correctly.

Documentation

What an Inspection Report Includes.

You receive a written report you can file, share with your engineers and use to decide whether to release the shipment.

  • Purchase order and part number references
  • Inspection date, location and inspector identity
  • Quantity produced and sample size inspected
  • Measured dimensions against drawing tolerances
  • Material certificates and verification results
  • Visual inspection findings with photographs
  • Functional test results where applicable
  • Non-conformances, dispositions and corrective notes
  • Packing, marking and quantity verification
  • Overall conclusion: pass, conditional or fail
Standards & Sampling

Inspection Standards and Sampling.

We set the inspection level from your drawing, the criticality of the part and your own quality requirements. Sampling can follow ISO 2859-1 with an agreed acceptance quality limit, and safety-critical or high-value features can be inspected 100%.

Where your specification names a standard, a test method or a customer requirement, we inspect against that document — so the report matches the acceptance criteria your engineers actually use. For deeper background, see our sourcing and quality guides.

Our Process

How We Coordinate Inspection.

1. Inspection Plan

We turn your drawing and specification into a written inspection plan with checks, methods, instruments and hold points.

2. First Article

The first part is verified against every requirement before production is released to run.

3. In-Process Checks

Inspection at agreed production stages catches drift and setup errors while the batch is still running.

4. Pre-Shipment Inspection

The finished batch is verified for quantity, dimensions, material, finish, marking and packing before it leaves the factory.

5. Reporting

Documented results and photographs are sent to you before goods are released — so you decide with evidence, not hope.

Quick Answers

Quality Control & Inspection FAQs

What is included in quality control inspection services in China?

Quality control inspection services cover first-article approval, in-process inspection and pre-shipment inspection. We check dimensions, material, appearance and function against your drawing and specification, and provide documented results before the goods are released for shipment.

What is a first-article inspection and why does it matter?

A first-article inspection verifies the very first part produced against every drawing requirement before mass production begins. It catches tooling, mould or CNC program errors while they are still cheap to fix, and it sets the reference for the rest of the order.

What is pre-shipment inspection?

Pre-shipment inspection happens after production is finished and before the goods ship. We verify quantity, dimensions, material, finish, marking and packing against your specification, so any problem is found in China rather than after the container has arrived.

How is material verified during inspection?

Material is verified through documents and, where required, through testing. We check material certificates and heat numbers against records and, when the specification calls for it, coordinate positive material identification or chemical composition analysis at qualified third-party laboratories.

What sampling standard do you use for inspection?

Sampling can follow ISO 2859-1 with an agreed acceptance quality limit, or 100% inspection for safety-critical or high-value features. The level is set from your drawing, the criticality of the part and your own quality requirements.

What is included in an inspection report?

A report includes the purchase order and part references, inspection date and location, quantity and sample size, the measured values against drawing tolerances, material verification results, visual and functional findings, photographs where useful, and a pass, conditional or fail conclusion.
